That is because even during economically difficult times, the consumer sector has shown itself to be relatively stable. According to a market study by PIRA International, the worldwide turnover of the packaging industry amounted to some USD 670 billion in 2010. By 2016 it is set to rise to USD 820 billion. That is why more and more graphic arts companies are adding the printing of flexible packaging, labels and cardboard packaging to their traditional businesses. Muller Martini VSOP printing presses with web widths of 520 and 850 mm are ideal for flexible packaging, labels and folding boxes. ; Flexo and rotogravure printing, the established processes in this field, are being supplemented by stepless, variable size web offset printing and the new possibilities it offers. At its “Entry into Package Printing with Web Offset Technology” seminar, Muller Martini, in its role as market leader for web printing presses in package printing, will explore the varied applications and opportunities presented by standardized offset printing in this field. Key topics of the seminar are data handling and printing plate manufacture in offset printing, ink systems, suitable materials (such as PE or PLA) and the range of uses of stepless, variable size web offset technology.
